Star Traders RPG v3.8.0 Released!



I am very excited to announce the newest edition of Star Traders RPG!

Version 3.8.0 has been uploaded to the Android Market. This new release represents the largest set of changes to the game's main map since the initial development in September.

You may not notice any major immediate visual differences to the star map, but hopefully you will quickly notice several substantial behavior improvements.

The map system has changed significantly, but remains highly configurable. If you prefer the old Star Traders RPG play (with lots of player directed scrolling) you can achieve this by disabling both Auto-Scroll and Fly Scroll.

As with any new Star Traders RPG feature we will be working over the next week or two to polish, improve and cycle in your suggestions.

Personally, I find that this new release makes the game much more playable. From a technical standpoint, re-writing the map system has opened a number of doors for future releases, including zooming and showing rumors/flags on the main map. Stay tuned for new features!

Artist's Workshop

I have posted before about my art processes, decisions made, tools used. As I have worked through the art process of Cyber Knights, I am continuing to refine my processes. I'd be interested in advice that other artists might have on how to optimize the artist's workshop.

I use a Waccom tablet (Bamboom, the small one) and a laptop (15" screen or something). I travel like crazy and have a pension for not working at home (cafes). I wish I had two screens (see the screenshot below) but can't carry one with me.

The more I work with larger sets of art files, all focusing on the same character, asset, or theme, the more I tweak and try to change my working environment. Consistency of style, character, and appearance are all critical, and it drives me to want to be able to look at all the resources associated with a certain subject while adding a new piece of art.

I'd love suggestions from any of the artists out there on ways to better my Artist's Workbench!

New Boston isn't exactly a friendly place, you know. In a sprawl like this, everyone has to watch their own back. You've got to keep one hand on your credder, and the other on your pistol. Don't trust a lying soul, and don't believe someone who claims they ain't. You won't last long in this dump if you do.

But you've got to know people. Trust 'em or not, living in a city like this requires you to have a network of ... contacts. I almost said friends, but then I don't want to give you the wrong idea. I'd kill each and every one of them if they tried to frag me first or if the money was just right. That's what it means, being a Cyber Knight.
